Tesla (TSLA), the upstart automaker that once could do no wrong, now can do no right.
Shares of Tesla have dropped today, with CNBC attributing the decline to rumors of a recall, according to Briefing.com. The rumors have since been dismissed as just that, but Tesla’s stock hasn’t recovered much this afternoon. It’s down 5.2% at $137.14 at 2:16 p.m., the cheapest since Aug. 7, when it closed at $134.23. That’s what happens when sentiment turns on a market darling.
Also of interest–but perhaps to only me–is what’s happening with Tesla’s volatility, or its average annualized price swings. Tesla’s 10-day volatility has surged to 113.23%, up from 47.29% on Oct. 23. Its implied volatility–that is, the amount of volatility implied by Tesla’s options–has dropped to 55.92% from 82% during the same period.

Gold trusts and ETFs
One of the easiest ways to profit off of a rising gold price is to buy shares in one of the various exchange-traded gold trusts. These are essentially closed-end funds that own physical gold bullion located in a vault. Each share of the trust represents a fractional ownership share of the physical bullion in the vault. Thus, these trusts could be an easy way to purchase gold exposure directly on an exchange. One example of a trust like this is theSprott Physical Gold Trust (NYSEMKT: PHYS ) .

Advisors' Opinion:- [By Sean Williams]
One company with seemingly limitless upside potential today was senior housing operator Emeritus (NYSE: ESC ) , which gained 35.2% after agreeing to be purchased by Brookdale Senior Living (NYSE: BKD ) for $1.4 billion, excluding debt. Under the terms of the deal, Emeritus shareholders will receive 0.95 shares of Brookdale, and would effectively own 23% of the outstanding shares of the company once the merger is complete. Brookdale anticipates the deal being EPS neutral in 2014, and forecasts it adding $0.40 in EPS by the third year. The move certainly makes sense on paper, as cost synergies will help these two senior housing companies fight back against the expectation of declining Medicare reimbursement rates. However, over the long run, the Medicare reimbursement picture is still very cloudy, making Brookdale a riskier buy at the moment following today's announcement.

Advisors' Opinion:- [By Roberto Pedone]
First Security Group (FSGI) operates as the holding company for FSGBank, which provides banking products and services to various communities in Tennessee and Georgia. This stock closed up 6.5% to $2.29 in Tuesday's trading session.
Tuesday's Range: $2.16-$2.30
52-Week Range: $1.30-$7.45
Tuesday's Volume: 80,000
Three-Month Average Volume: 509,606From a technical perspective, FSGI ripped higher here right above some near-term support levels at $2.14 to $2.12 with lighter-than-average volume. This move is quickly pushing shares of FSGI within range of triggering a major breakout trade. That trade will hit if FSGI manages to take out some near-term overhead resistance levels at $2.38 to $2.52 and then once it clears its 200-day moving average at $2.80 with high volume.
Traders should now look for long-biased trades in FSGI as long as it's trending above some key support levels at $2.14 to $2.12 and then once it sustains a move or close above those breakout levels with volume that hits near or above 509,606 shares. If that breakout triggers soon, then FSGI will set up to re-fill some of its previous gap down zone from June that started at $5.08.
- [By Ning Jia]
The case for First Security Group (FSGI) is interesting. It is bank holding company that is obscure, cheap and unloved. As the company completed the recapitalization earlier this year, I think the market has been under-appreciating its potential to return to growth and profitability as a result of the much-needed recapitalization.

Advisors' Opinion:- [By Gary Gordon]
On behalf of most of my clients in 2013, I chose to overweight tech and health care. However, I did so with areas that are traditionally less volatile. I continue to own Powershares Pharmaceuticals (PJP) and/or SPDR Select Healthcare (XLV). I’ve been a proponent of “old tech” with the attractive prices and dividends; First Trust NASDAQ Tech Dividend (TDIV) fits the bill. Additionally, I have remained faithful to iShares Small Cap Value (IJS) for small-cap exposure, rather than hop on the IWO express.
